Pontycymer travelled to Ynysymaerdy Road to take on Briton Ferry in this Division 3 West Central encounter. The Ferry sunk Ponty's hopes of a win on the road with a strong all round home team performance. The Garw Valley outfit looked impressive in the opening exchanges while catching the home side all at sea on a number of occasions. The Green and Ambers only score of the game was a fantastic solo effort from prop Darryl Lacey. Along side powerhouse prop Lacey his fellow front rowers Owen Whittingham and Steve Major put in eye catching displays also big first half performances for Ponty came from teenage half backs Geraint Gillet and Ieuan Evans. Pacey wing Tom Harris, centre Ryan John and dynamic flanker Dylan Phillips all went close to scoring in the second half but were just held up short of the white-wash. Briton Ferry made the home advantage count and pulled away in the final quarter.
Pontycymers next league fixture is a trip to Cwrt Herbert on 24th September when they face Neath Athletic.
