Old Penarthians RFC 3 - 22 Pontycymer RFC

In form Pontycymer travelled to Cwrt-Y-Vil playing fields for this National Bowl Round Three clash, on Halloween weekend the Green and Ambers put in a spooktacular display to ghost past Old Penarthians and make sure their are in the cauldron for the fourth round draw.

It was the visitors who broke the dead-lock with an early try from outstanding second row Zack James centre Steve John converted. John then fired over a monster penalty to edge Pontycymer further in front but back came the home side with a penalty of their own making it 10-3 at half time in favour of the Lawrence Park outfit.
Just after the interval the Garw Valley outfit began to look in eye catching form playing some South Sea Island style rugby running from deep and it was not long before Ponty's pacey wing Tom Harris scored his 5th try in 5 games when he touched down in the corner to put his side even further in front at 15-3. Then after the restart it was all one way traffic with the visitors in the box seat their powerful forwards set up a perfect platform to work off while their back line were running mouth watering angles which cut the home side to ribbons.

Pontys go to forwards Steve Lacey, Daryl Lacey and Leon Roberts gained the hard yards up front time after time knocking the home side backwards.
The visitors third and final try was another top-draw gem again after a series of rucks and mauls the ball found the hands of Pontycymer's Nathan Silverthorne who had been in fantastic form all afternoon and when he tapped his baton the Garw Valley side played the tune and it was Silverthorne who rounded off a great day for Pontycymer by touching down under the posts with centre John converting making the final score 22-3.
