Bridgend Sports 34 - 24 Pontycymer

Pontycymer travelled to The Bandstand field looking to hit the right note in this Division Three West Cental encounter but the home side just had to much fire-power and were able close the game out.
Pontycymer handed a debut to ex-Bridgend Raven and Bridgend Blue Bulls star centre Gareth Howells who put in an eye catching display on his first start for the club while the Garw Valley outfit welcomed back second row Danny Griffiths and wing Tom Day.
Bridgend Sports took an early lead with a penalty and a try but back came Ponty with a Tom Davies penalty. Pontycymer then took a well deserved lead through a try from strong running wing Kyle Galtry, scrum half Tom Davies converted making it game on at 10-8 and all to play for. The home side then upped the tempo scoring two quick-fire tries, one of which was converted and when the two side's stopped for a breather it was The Sports who just edged it at half time 20-10.
The home side started the second half the stronger and soon grabbed another converted try but back came The Lawrence Park side with powerhouse wing Kyle Galtry again on the score sheet bagging his long range try brace and centre Ross Pearce converted. The Sportsclub made sure the points stayed at The Bandstand with another converted try late on and with minutes left on the clock the final word went to Pontys try machine, wing Galtry who completed his try hat-trick with another fantastic solo effort with former Llanharran pivot Pearce added the extra's.
Big games in defeat for the Green and Ambers came from prop Steve Lacey, wing Ethan Stead, outside half Ieuan Evans and replacement No.8 Jonny Evans.
On Saturday Pontycymer welcome Bryncethin to Lawrence Park,in round one of this season's W.R.U Bowl Competition.
